Youth For the Voiceless team member

Melissa Patterson

Development Committee Co-Chair

Melissa grew up in Portland with her mother who is also a passionate animal activist. She grew up fostering and rescuing dogs which influenced Melissa to explore other areas of animal suffering and their direct implications on different movements such as racial equity, women’s rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. Melissa is currently taking a gap year, primarily because she took a prolonged trip to act as a caregiver to orphaned baby baboons at a South African rehabilitation center. Having returned to Portland, Melissa is thrilled to be back at Youth for the Voiceless and is motivated to participate in a shared vision for inspiring compassion and action in all facets of advocacy.
